Live Baking the 2019 UK General Election Results | #BakeTheNews
Updated: Jan 3, 2020
For those of you who have been following me on YouTube for a while, you'll know that back in 2017 I needed an excuse to stay up for the election results (because apparently if I fall asleep - I wake up to bad news!).
In my first attempt, I created 650 cupcakes and decorated them into the 2017 UK general election results. It was a very long night that didn't go too smoothly so when the 2019 election was called I knew it was time for redemption!
This year I took on the #BakeTheNews challenge again and on Thursday 12th December I stayed up to live bake the 2019 general election results.
650 sugar cookies, an unhealthy amount of buttercream and 17 hours later. This was the result...
This experiment took a whopping 17 hours to complete (arguably not my fault...) and for those of you want to count the calories I used:
(for the sugar cookies)
1.3kg plain flour
15g baking powder
(for the buttercream icing)
3kg icing sugar
food colouring in all the colours of the political rainbow
If you're interested in a night of endless baking, why not give it a go yourself!?
