Time to (milk) shake things up a bit!
Hermione's drinking milk this week - but instead of just serving up a glass I thought we'd make it extra magical by transforming it into the ultimate Butterbeer Milkshake.
Butterbeer is one of the most famous drinks in the Wizarding World and this homemade milkshake recipe takes it to the next level! Find out how to make butterbeer ice cream, homemade butterscotch sauce for Butter and what you need to do to combine them into an easy milkshake recipe!

Harry Potter Butterbeer Milkshake Ingredients
(makes 1 litre - 4 servings)
For the butterbeer ice cream recipe
500ml double cream
1 can (approx. 400g) condensed milk
pinch of salt
2-3 tbsp caramel extract
For the butterscotch sauce recipe
100g soft brown sugar
300ml double cream
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
For the butterbeer milkshake
50g white chocolate
4 tbsp butterscotch sauce
6 scoops butterbeer ice cream
200ml-400ml milk (depending on desired thickness)
Homemade Butterbeer Milkshake Method:
For the Butterbeer ice cream recipe, you want to begin by whisking your double cream until it forms soft peaks. Add in the condensed milk, vanilla, caramel and salt and then keep on whisking until it forms stiff peaks. Transfer to an ice-cream tub and freeze for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight).
For the butterscotch sauce recipe add the sugar into a pan on a medium heat along with the water and swirl the pan to help the sugar dissolve. (Wizard Tip! Avoid stirring as this will cause sugar crystals to form). Bring to the boil and allow to caramelise for 3-5 minutes until the syrup goes dark golden brown. Add in the butter and swirl around until it has melted. Turn down the heat and then slowly pour in the double cream, whisk through and then add in your vanilla and salt. Keep it bubbling for about 2 more minutes. Transfer to a bowl to cool.
To prepare your ultimate Butterbeer Milkshake classes, melt the white chocolate in a bowl over simmering water until smooth. Dip the rim of your glasses in and then turn upside down allowing the drips to run. You can then add more around the edge with a spoon along with some of the cooled, thickened butterscotch sauce.
To create the easy Butterbeer milkshake simply add the ice-cream, butterscotch sauce, and milk into a blender and blitz together until smooth. (Wizard Tip! If you don't have a blender you can even use a cocktail shaker - shaking the milkshake until smooth).
Pour the milkshake into your prepared glasses leaving about a 1cm gap from the top. Swirl the whipped cream over the top and finish with your favourite sweets, candies and chocolates. Serve immediately.
And with that our drink of the summer is complete! Be warned though, this Butterbeer milkshake recipe is super addictive and so easy to make you'll be going through it fast!
