"I wouldn't say no to a large bottle of Ogden's Old Firewhisky"
Time for some more Harry Potter Cocktails!
Firewhisky is the Wizarding World drink of choice for adult Witches and Wizards who can handle the heat! The actual process of distilling whisky can take months (if not years) - fortunately, I've come up with a magical short cut to add fire to shop-bought whiskey!
In this Ogden's Old Firewhisky recipe I'll show you how you flavour your favourite whiskey with chilli and cinnamon, maturing it into homemade firewhisky! If you're looking for ideas to serve your Firewhisky I've also got a new Harry Potter Cocktail recipe called a Spicy pumpkin which Firewhiskey works brilliantly in!
If you've been looking for a Homemade Firewhiskey recipe follow this simple step-by-step recipe to create your own along with the perfect Spicy Pumpkin Cocktail to serve it in!
Harry Potter Firewhisky Ingredients
(makes 500ml Firewhisky)
For the Firewhisky recipe
1-2 whole chillies
2 cinnamon sticks
For the cocktail simple syrup recipe
4 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp water
chillies and cinnamon from the firewhisky
For the Spicy Pumpkin recipe
50ml Homemade Firewhisky
50ml Pumpkin Juice
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp chilli simple syrup
A few dashes Angostura Bitters
ice to serve
cinnamon and chilli to garnish
Homemade Firewhiskey Method:
For the Easy Firewhisky recipe, you want to slice your chillies in half and place them into your bottle of whisky. Leave this to mature for around 1 month giving it plenty of time for the flavour to infuse. (Wizard Tip! You can tailor the time depending on how strong you want the fire flavour - Chillies will add the heat, while the cinnamon will add a spiced sweetness)
After a month strain the whisky through a sieve and then give it a taste. If you're happy with the flavour you can rebottle it, or if you prefer it stronger, place the spices back in for a little longer.
For the Spicy Pumpkin Cocktail recipe, you want to begin by making your simple chilli syrup by placing your sugar, water, chillies and cinnamon into a pan on a medium heat. Swirl around until the sugar has dissolved. Once the syrup has started bubbling, remove from the heat. Place this in a bottle and it will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and top with your firewhisky, pumpkin juice, lemon juice, chilli syrup, and angostura bitters. Place a lid on top and shake for 30 seconds. (Wizard Tip! If you're using a metal shaker the lid should frost up once it's ready.)
Fill your serving glass with ice, pour the Spicy Pumpkin over the top and garnish with extra chilli and cinnamon. Serve immediately.
And that's all you need to do to bring this super easy firewhisky recipe to life! Can you handle the heat?
