The Christmas festivities continue in Chapter Twelve of the Philosopher's Stone - 'The Mirror of Erised'

"Harry watched Hagrid get redder and redder in the face as he called for more wine"

It's a merry Christmas indeed so we need to brew up a magical mulled wine drink before Hagrid runs dry!

This homemade mulled wine recipe is super easy to make and packs an incredible depth of flavour. Not too sweet, and perfectly spiced to give you that warm, cosy Christmas feeling as it goes down.

Hagrid's Mulled Wine Recipe Ingredients:

(serves 4)

  • 1 bottle red wine

  • 50g golden caster sugar

  • 50g muscovado sugar

  • 60ml water

  • 60ml fresh clementine juice

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

  • 3 star anise

  • 1 clementine

  • handful of cloves

  • 4-5 dashes Angostura Bitters

  • 2 tbsp spiced rum

Hagrid's Homemade Mulled Wine Recipe Method:

  1. To begin you want to make your spiced syrup by adding both sugars into a saucepan on a medium heat. Pour in the clementine juice and water before adding in your spices.

  2. Stir until well combined and then bring to the boil. After 1-2 minutes the syrup should have thickened so you can turn the heat down low and pour in the red wine.

  3. For an extra hit of flavour you can add in the optional rum, angostura bitters and a clementine that has been pierced with cloves.

  4. Place a lid on top and heat on low for at least 15 minutes.

  5. Remove the spices and serve straight away while warm or bottle and reheat whenever you're ready to enjoy

Wising you all a very, Merry, Christmas!
