Harry Potter Potion Cocktail Recipes | My Harry Potter Kitchen (Recipe #64)

Welcome back to another recipe from My Harry Potter Kitchen! This is the YouTube series where I'm baking my way through the Harry Potter books, whipping up magical recipes for every item of food and drink we find. Last week we created a Harry Potter Unicorn Blood recipe that you can really eat!

This week we're moving onto Chapter Sixteen from the Philosopher's Stone - 'Through The Trapdoor"

"She took a long drink from the round bottle at the end and shuddered"

Who would have thought that there would be a magical recipe protecting the stone! We're almost at the end so I thought I'd use this as an opportunity to celebrate with some Hogwarts House inspired cocktails!

This Harry Potter Potion Cocktail Recipe provides four different drinks - one for each of our Hogwarts Houses! If you're drinking spirits you can create some alcoholic cocktails from them, but if you're not drinking it's easy to transfigure them into mocktails too!

Hogwarts House Magical Potion Recipe Ingredients:

(makes 4 Hogwarts House cocktails)

For the Gryffindor Amaretto Spritz

  • 50ml amaretto

  • 150ml cranberry juice

  • prosecco to top

  • (for an alcohol free version replace the amaretto with elderflower syrup and the prosecco with lemonade)

For the Slytherin FireApple Spritz

  • 50ml fireball whiskey

  • 150ml apple and pear juice

  • prosecco to top

  • (for an alcohol free version replace the whiskey with elderflower syrup and the prosecco with lemonade)(optional)

For the Ravenclaw Rhubarb & Ginger Gin Spritz

  • 50ml rhubarb & ginger gin

  • 150ml red grape juce

  • prosecco to top

  • (for an alcohol free version replace the gin with rhubarb syrup and the prosecco with lemonade)

For the Hufflepuff Spice Mango Rum Fizz

  • 50ml spiced rum

  • 150ml mango, passion fruit and orange juice

  • prosecco to top

  • (for an alcohol free version replace the rum with passion fruit syrup and the prosecco with lemonade)

Plus edible glitter to serve

Hogwarts House Potion Cocktail Recipe Method:

  1. To create your potions with a magical effect all you need to do is pour your ingredients into a potion vial.

  2. For Gryffindor that's the amaretto, cranberry juice and prosecco

  3. For the Slytherin FireApple Spritz, that's fireball whisky, apple and pear juice and prosecco

  4. For the Ravenclaw Rhubarb and Ginger Gin Spritz, that's gin, red grape juice and prosecco

  5. For the Hufflepuff Spiced Mango Rum Fizz, that's rum, mango, passionfruit and orange juice and prosecco.

  6. Chill all the potions while you prepare your glasses

  7. Spray the bottom of each glass with a generous amount of edible glitter.

  8. Once you're ready to serve give a glass to your guests and have them pour the potion in - the glitter should bubble up and come alive in the drink!

And with that - we've official finished baking our way through Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone!
