Harry Potter Unicorn Blood Recipe | My Harry Potter Kitchen (Recipe #63)

This week we're moving on to Chapter Fifteen of the Philosopher's Stone - 'The Forbidden Forest'

"The cloaked figure reached the unicorn, it lowered its head over the wound in the animal's side, and began to drink its blood"

Probably not a recipe you expected from the series but rules are rules - unicorn blood is being drunk so, we need a recipe!

This homemade edible unicorn blood recipe is a fun gloopy drink inspired by that spooky scene from the Forbidden Forest! Unicorns are pretty magical beings so I've decided that this blood will taste tutti-frutti (although you can personalise it with any flavour you like!)

Edible Unicorn Blood Recipe Ingredients:

(serves 4-6 cursed individuals)

  • 450ml water

  • 3 gelatine leaves

  • 50ml milk

  • 50g sugar

  • 1 tsp tutti-frutti flavouring (or another of your choosing!)

  • edible silver glitter

Harry Potter Unicorn Blood Recipe Method:

  1. Add 150ml of the water into a bowl with the gelatine leaves. Leave to stand for 5 minutes until softened.

  2. Get a saucepan on a medium heat and add the rest of the water, milk and sugar in. Stir through until the sugar has dissolved.

  3. Add in the gelatine and the excess water and stir until dissolved. Pour in the flavourings and then transfer into a jug and allow to cool. Place in the fridge to thicken up for 2 hours.

  4. Once semi-set, whisk the unicorn blood and check the consistency (if too thick, add in some extra hot water - if too thick, melt down some more gelatine).

  5. Once you're happy with the consistency stir through the edible glitter and serve in a spooky glass or potion vial!
