"What she did have were... chocolate frogs"

Another recipe is jumping out of the books this week with Chocolate Frogs! Which card are you hoping for?

This homemade chocolate frogs recipe is incredibly easy and will walk you through the steps to temper your chocolate to make sure you get a nice shiny finish! You can even decorate the bottom of your moulds for some unique chocolate frog designs!

Homemade Chocolate Frog Ingredients:

(makes 8 chocolate frogs)

  • 400g good quality chocolate (I've used milk)

  • 50g white chocolate or red candy melts (optional)

Harry Potter Chocolate Frog Recipe Method:

  1. To fully temper your chocolate, break into pieces and place into a bowl over simmering water. Stir until melted (or the chocolate reaches 50c).

  2. Pour the chocolate onto a worktop or glass turntable and work the chocolate, spreading and gathering it to the centre, until it cools to 28c.

  3. Transfer the chocolate to a piping bag and pipe into your moulds. (For added decoration you can pipe patterns into the base of the moulds first using the white chocolate or candy melts)

  4. Allow the chocolate to set before turning out and storing in your DIY boxes, or an airtight jar.

  5. Don't fancy fully tempering your chocolate? You can half-temper by melting half the chocolate in a bowl over simmering water and then removing from the heat. Chop the rest of the chocolate into small pieces and then fold into the melted chocolate - this will gradually cool the chocolate for you.

And with that our magical edible chocolate frogs are ready to enjoy!
