This week we're serving up a heart-warming hot drink with a magical Harry Potter twist!
We're heading back to Chapter Five - 'The Whomping Willow' for our next recipe before everyone sets off for Hogwarts:
"Then it was time for a last mug of hot chocolate and bed"
Time for a little nightcap before bed at The Burrow!
Nothing warms the heart like a mug of freshly homemade hot chocolate - and as everyone prepares to set off to Hogwarts for Year Two that sounds like the perfect treat to remind them of The Burrow!
This easy homemade hot chocolate recipe is the perfect gift for Harry Potter fans. You can personalise the flavours, top them with Hogwarts House sweets and then gift them to your favourite Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw - then all they have to do is stir into hot milk to enjoy!
If you'd like to know how to make hot chocolate from scratch follow my step by step recipe to create your own magical Hot Chocolate Stirrers!
Harry Potter Hot Chocolate Sticks Recipe Ingredients
For the hot chocolate stirrers recipe
200g dark chocolate
50ml double cream
1 tbsp caramel syrup
1-2 tbsp icing sugar
1/4 tsp nutmeg
lollipop sticks or skewers
Hogwarts House coloured sweets
200ml milk (per stirrer)
Hot Chocolate on a Stick Method:
Place a bowl over a pot of simmering water and add in your cream, caramel, icing sugar, and nutmeg. Stir through until well combined and leave to warm for 5 minutes.
While the milk is heating you can begin cutting your chocolate into rough, small chunks (Wizard Tip! Use chocolate chips if you want to save yourself some time and effort)
Add the chocolate into the cream and stir through until evenly melted and smooth.
Pour the mixture into a silicone mould (with 1-2cm shapes) and then use a spatula or cake scraper to level off the tops.
Decorate each chocolate with your Hogwarts House sweets and then leave the chocolate to firm up for about 10-15 minutes.
Once the chocolate is firm enough to hold your sticks up-right you can add them into the centre of each one. Place into the fridge for 30 minutes until completely set
When you're ready to serve heat your milk. You want it to be nice and hot (but be careful not to burn it). Pour the milk into your mugs and then add in your hot chocolate stirrers.
Stir through until the hot chocolate melts into the milk and then top off with whipped cream and more sweet treats
And that's how to make a simple hot chocolate recipe at home! Perfect to gift to Wizarding World friends - or enjoy yourself.
