This week, we're serving an (adult-only) twist on the classic Pumpkin Juice recipe!

We're diving back into Chapter Six of the Prisoner of Azkaban "Talons and Tea Leaves" for another magical recipe:

Having tackled the Wizarding World Copycat Pumpkin Juice recipe in the Chamber of Secrets for this year I wanted to brew something extra special for when the adults are looking for a treat - Pumpkin Juice Cider!


This way easy Pumpkin Juice Cider recipe is an alcoholic version of the classic Pumpkin Juice Recipe! Once you've brewed your base it only takes a few minutes to bring your Pumpkin Cider to life and it's bound to be a hit at your next Harry Potter Halloween Party!

Alcoholic Pumpkin Juice Cide Recipe Ingredients

(serves 4-6)


For the Pumpkin Juice Cider recipe:

  • 500g pumpkin puree

  • 50 - 100g dark soft brown sugar

  • zest and juice of one orange

  • half a nutmeg (grated)

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp ground mixed spice

  • 1 tsp ground ginger

  • 1 litre cloudy apple cider

Pumpkin Juice Cider Recipe Method:

  1. To make the Pumpkin Cider base, pour the pumpkin puree into a saucepan and add in the dark soft brown sugar.

  2. Zest the orange before cutting it in half and squeezing out the juice (Wizard Tip! Roll on a surface to release the juice). Add both the juice and zest to the pan and stir through.

  3. Flavour the base with the nutmeg, cinnamon, mixed spice and ginger and mix until well combined. Cook on a low heat for 5 minutes to allow the flavours to mature, stirring regularly to prevent it from burning.

  4. Remove the pumpkin juice base from the heat and allow it to cool. You can either use it immediately or store it in the fridge/freezer until you're ready.

  5. When you're ready to serve your pumpkin juice cider, place the pumpkin base into a large bowl or jug and slowly pour in the cloudy apple cider, being careful to control the bubbles. Gently stir through until evenly combined.

  6. To serve cold, simply pour over ice or serve as 'mulled pumpkin cider' by heating in the saucepan.
